
Manuel Contero
Lead Researcher
Dr. Contero is a Full Professor with the Graphic Engineering Department at UPV, Valencia (Spain). He earned an MSc degree in Electrical Engineering in 1990 (UPV, Spain) and a PhD in Industrial Engineering in 1995 (UPV, Spain). In 1993 he joined UJI as Assistant Professor, promoting to Associate Professor in 1997. In 2000 he returned to UPV, being appointed Full Professor in 2008. His research interests focus on sketch-based modeling, collaborative engineering, human computer interaction, development of spatial abilities, and technology enhanced learning.

Pedro Company
Lead Researcher
Dr. Company is a Full Professor of Graphic Expression in Engineering at UJI. He graduated as an Industrial Engineer from the UPV, Valencia (Spain) in 1985, and obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1989. In 1994 he joined UJI as Associate Professor, promoting to Full Professor in 1996. His research interests focus on computer-aided design, computer graphics, and sketch-based modeling, with over 50 published articles and research communications in these areas. Additionally, he has been actively involved in research related to Emotional Design and Collaborative Product Engineering.

Aritz Aranburu
RESEARCHER
Dr. Aranburu is a researcher and lecturer at the Design Innovation Centre (DBZ) at Mondragon Unibertsitatea (MU), where he has been a faculty member since 2016. He holds a BSc in Industrial Design Engineering and Product Development (MU, 2014), an MSc in Strategic Product and Service Design (MU, 2016), and a PhD in Applied Engineering (MU, 2023), with a dissertation on Modeling Strategies for High-Quality 3D Models in Parametric Associative CAD Systems. His research interests include computer-aided design, computer graphics, CAD quality, modeling strategies, model-based enterprise, and human-computer interaction.

Carmen González
RESEARCHER
Dr. González-Lluch is Associate Professor in Graphic Expression in Engineering at UJI. She earned degrees in Technical Industrial Engineering (1995) and Industrial Organization Engineering (1997) from UPV. Before starting her PhD in 2005, she gained over 7.5 years of significant professional experience as the head of the technical department at three companies. In 2007, she earned her Doctorate, achieving Outstanding Cum Laude in 2012 and receiving the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. In 2018, she was honored with the University Teaching Excellence Award. Currently, her research focuses on evaluation methodologies for quality CAD models and assemblies.

Daniel Justel
RESEARCHER
Dr. Justel is a researcher and lecturer at the Design Innovation Centre (DBZ) at Mondragon Unibertsitatea (MU), where he has been a faculty member since 1996. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (MU, 1996) and an MSc in Industrial Organization Engineering (MU, 2000). In 2009, he earned his PhD from Universitat Jaume I (UJI), defending his dissertation on A Design Methodology for the Disassembly of Industrial Products Oriented Toward Eco-Innovation. Since joining Mondragon Unibertsitatea, he has played a key role in research and academic leadership at DBZ. Dr. Justel has supervised nine PhD dissertations and is currently supervising two more. His research expertise encompasses sustainable product design, design for disassembly, and innovation in mechanical engineering. He has led or participated in over 30 projects in collaboration with industry and governmental organizations.

Miguel López
RESEARCHER
Research technician hired for the project. Graduated in Industrial Design Engineering and Product Development in 2021. Currently pursuing a PhD at UPV. Delving into scientific research related to 3D modeling and the quality of industrial models.

Almudena Palacios
RESEARCHER
Almudena Palacios Ibáñez holds a PhD in Design, Manufacturing, and Project Management for Industrial Projects from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Valencia. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design Engineering and Product Development at the University of Cádiz, Puerto Real, and her Master’s degree in the same field at UPV. During this time, she began exploring virtual reality through a collaboration grant from the Ministry of Universities, which redirected her professional career toward that sector. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Universitat Jaume I, Castellón, and a researcher in the DACTIC group.

Raquel Plumed
RESEARCHER
Raquel Plumed is an Associate Professor of Graphic Expression in Engineering at Universitat Jaume I. She earned degrees in Industrial Engineering and Industrial Organization Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de València and obtained her PhD in Industrial Technologies, Materials, and Building Engineering from UJI in 2015. Her research focuses on sketch-based modeling, computer-aided design, and the assessment of 3D CAD model quality, with an emphasis on robustness and reusability. She has participated in national research projects on CAD modeling practices and conducted predoctoral research at Cardiff University, where she explored algorithms for 3D reconstruction from 2D sketches. Her work has led to several publications in high-impact journals, contributing to advances in geometric modeling and design.
